Create a New Animal

Add a New Animal

To create a new animal Go to Enter > Animal > New Animal  or click here





Basic Animal Details

Required Fields

  1. Eartag - must be numerical value
  2. DOB - enter date in yyyy-mm-dd format. For example, 2022-11-05. You can also click on the calendar widget
  3. Pen - select from your list of pens
  4. Animal Type - Click DAIRY for a female animal or BULL CALF for a male animal.

Optional Fields

  1. Animal Breed - search and select from the dropdown list
  2. Dam - search and select from dropdown list of animals located at the farm
  3. Sire - search and select from the dropdown list of official sires
  4. EID - enter EID, must be numerical value
  5. Registered Id - enter Registered Id, not longer than 15 characters
  6. Barn Name - enter barn name (ie Bessie)

Extra Information

All extra information fields are optional.
  1. Purchase Source - free text field
  2. Purchase Date - enter date in yyyy-mm-dd format

Fields available only if dairy animal is selected

  1. Last Fresh Date - enter date in yyyy-mm-dd format
  2. Lactation Number - defaults to 0. Select other lactation number if it applies.
  3. Last Breeding Date - enter date in yyyy-mm-dd format
  4. Last Breeding Sire - search and select from the dropdown list of official sires
  5. Pregnant (Pregnancy Status) - Click either Pregnant or Unknown

Save Animal Options

There are three Save Options, depicted with save icon  



Save

Clicking this option saves the animal and then reloads the page to allow you to enter in another new animal

Save & View Animal

Clicking this option saves the animal and then takes you to the animal's cowcard page.

Save & View Recently Added

Clicking this option saves the animal and then takes you to a Bovi-Insights report to view animals added to the herd today.
