Assigning SCR Collar with Allflex RS420 Dual Stick Reader in Mobile App

Assigning SCR Collar with Allflex RS420 Dual Stick Reader in Mobile App

Background

BoviSync customers now use the BoviSync mobile app to scan NFC tags for SCR Transponders. NFC reading allows tags to be assigned simply by scanning with a wand in the barn. NFC readers can provide the number by electronically reading the tag. The NFC reading capability works with an Allflex RS420 Dual Stick Reader.

Instructions

Connecting

  1. Connect the Reader to the device via Bluetooth. The device name should start with "RS420".
  2. Pair the Reader in the BoviSync app (hamburger menu > Settings > EID Readers)
  3. Once you get the blue checkmark next to the Reader name, you are set!

Wand Settings

See the video below on how to Enable Quick Actions, How to use Quick Actions, and How to Turn off Memory on wand:
  1. Enable Quick Action 0:00-0:26
  2. Using Quick Action to Create New Session 0:27-0:42
  3. Turn off Memory 0:42-1:08

Adding Assign ID event set

  1. In an event set, add an Assign ID event.
  2. Edit the event with ID Type = SCR Collar.
  3. ID should be set to Enter

Entering Assign ID event

  1. Enter the animal eartag either by using the keypad or by scanning the animal's EID button (by pressing the green scan button).
  2. The Reader will then scan the NFC tag automatically and complete the event.

Create Assign ID chorelist

  1. Create a chorelist with an Assign ID chore.
  2. Set the ID Type to Skip (as long as the Assign ID Chore already has SCR Collar)
  3. Set ID to Enter.
  4. You can also set Contains field to include SCR Collar

Complete Assign ID chores

  1. Scan the animal using the Reader (or type in their eartag number).
  2. Tap the animal's eartag in the chore queue.
  3. The Reader will then scan the NFC tag automatically and complete the chore.

Scan Demo

The Reader has approximately 4 seconds to scan the NFC tag. If it doesn't scan:
  1. Cancel the in-progress event or chore.
  2. On the Reader, press the top button on the Reader to access the menu.
  3. Reset the counter. This is needed because the Reader does not like duplicate scans.
  4. Re-enter the event or chore again for this animal.

If your EID reader is not on Firmware version 2.50.12 you may face issues
