GBoard Keyboard has stopped working

GBoard Keyboard has stopped working

We've encountered an issue with the default keyboard "GBoard" on several phones. The error is "Gboard not working". The user is not able to enter data. These steps were the only ones that have worked for us.
  1. Turn off GBoard
  2. Turn on Google Voice Typing
  3. Go to Play Store
  4. Use Voice to search for SwiftKey Keyboard
  5. Install Swiftkey Keyboard
  6. Open Swiftkey 
  7. Follow Onscreen Instructions
      Enable Swiftkey
      Select Swiftkey
      Select "Not Now"
 
        
Go to settings-> Languages & Input-> Virtual Keyboard -> Manage Keyboards to change settings in the future.
Additional things to try including Restore the Phone or clearing the cache and data on the Gboard App.
