Live Dairy Heifer Probability (DHFR%) and Live Beef Calf Probability (BFCF%)

BoviSync has a report item called Live Dairy Heifer Probability with the item abbreviation of DHFR%. This item determines the probability of a pregnancy resulting in a live dairy heifer calf taking into account the type of semen used and the breed of the conception sire. This item only populates for animals that are pregnant and assumes a 96% live birth rate.

BoviSync also has a report item called Live Beef Calf Probability with the abbreviation of BFCF%. This item determines the probability of a pregnancy resulting in a live bull calf or beef breed calf (either male or female) taking into account the type of semen used and the breed of the conception sire. As with DHFR%, this item only populates for animals that are pregnant and assumes a 96% live birth rate. The calculation of this item is 0.96 - DHFR%. The classification of a "beef calf" is any animal that will be sold to market rather than raised as a dairy animal. All bull calves resulting from animals bred to dairy or beef semen are assumed to be marketable calves, as are heifer calves resulting from animals bred to beef semen.

If the pregnancy has been sexed by ultrasound that calculation is reflected in both items as well. The calculations are listed below.
